Mario Do you know what Britain's red doubledecker buses are called officially, and have been for more than 50 years ? Routemasters. It is also actually the name of the company that builds them.

Not the case here. However, for special services as these seem to be, 'route' also sounds too timetabled.

Excellent example In the GPS you are given routes, with several alternatives at the press of a button, reference stops/points on the way, etc. Those are doubtlessly routes. You can take a different one today and tomorrow.
Service buses, on the other hand, follow itineraries. Fixed, unchangeable, with specified time to leave and arrive.
But it's just a matter of opinion, of course. Both terms will do in this case.

People pelase remember. We are talking about a physical trajectory on a road or highway between 2 points. I suggest you all take a look at the GPS systems in your own cars.

I just feel "routes" imply a longer trip, with several stops, alternative paths, etc. A "trecho" (literally, a "stretch") is a short, non-stop, simple stretch, with a single "leg". Itinerary does not imply any distance, it's just the path to be followed according to a schedule. Although it is a bit too formal, as Richard mentioned. But in terms of significance, I still think it's the best choice here.

trips, journeys, routes, itineraries might all be possible, but the last two are a bit formal, itinerary is usually a bunch of journeys (legs) and route would be a regular trajectory, whereas this looks like a one-off service.

Sure! Thanks, Ward! I haven't checked the reference - I just found a sentence with "itinerary" in it, in the same context, and I thought it was good. Doing things in a hurry is asking for trouble too!

Anyway, the suggestion is here for evaluation by our colleagues at ProZ. I really don't know which one works better, but surely "route" is a very good suggestion.

Matheus Just be careful of your reference sources. The first reference you used was a doc that had been very very badly translated from Portuguese to English. Using non native, translated sources is only asking for trouble. Cheers mate
