Italian term

sinuosità

Italian to English Other Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting
Talking about the Delphos gown, which seemed to be to be something quite provocative at the time, pls see below thanks

I suoi abiti fanno scandalo per la loro sinuosità, dato che aderiscono al corpo, come quelli di Paul Poiret e sono indossati da attrici e ballerine come la Duse, Sara Bernardt, Mata Hari, Isadora Duncan.

Discussion

Elena Aclasto Mar 1, 2016:
Hi Neptunia, of course it is the body underneath to be curvy, but since it is said that these dresses adhere to the body thus making it seductive...:-)
Neptunia Mar 1, 2016:
Maybe I'm the only one who thinks of the body underneath being the curvy part, and the dresses by themselves are completely straight and often described as "columnar." Not sure what is wrong with the obvious choice here, "sinuousness." The dresses are clingy, likened to things like mermaids' scales, leaving little to the imagination, etc. It is easy to find lots of descriptions to help fill in the blank.

You need to add a noun (eg: fit) an adjective is not enough to render the Italian term.

If a more liberal translation is preferred you could go for something like
/ their close fitting flowing design/.
