German term

Schmankerl-Abend

German to English Marketing Advertising / Public Relations Business network
Wöchentliche Veranstaltungen in den Wintermonaten, von Langlauf-Kursen bis hin zum speziellen Schmankerl-Abend gibt es jeden Tag etwas Anderes zu entdecken

I know what it's getting at but can't think of a way to express it, so it sounds right for a marketing flyer!

Discussion

Björn Vrooman Nov 8, 2015:
Why are the answers so hung up on (sorry to appropriate your wording here, Ramey) tasting or sampling? I think only Ramey's answer is close to what Schmankerl means:
"besonderer Leckerbissen" (Duden)
"heute gilt er als Ausdruck für insbesondere regionale Delikatessen oder Leckerbissen" (Wiki)

It's about local delicacies - funnily enough, that may even be Schnitzel:

Not sure why you doubled up on "entdecken" in your sentence, Ramey (discover/offer sth new). How about this adaptation (removing the "courses" bit as well, not sure it's needed):

During the winter months, weekly events will let you explore something new every day - from cross-country skiing to dinners offering regional delicacies.
Ramey Rieger (X) Nov 6, 2015:
Tasty tidbit testing/trying could also be misinterpreted, I suppose. I'm hung up on alliteration today.

discovering delicacies dinners

During the winter months, weekly events from cross-country ski courses to discovering delicacies dinners offer something new every day.

agree franglish : ... to an evening of epicurean discoveries... might be more digestible?

Or just leave out the dinners bit...an evening of discovering delicacies/delicious discovery
neutral Lonnie Legg : "an evening of delicious discovery"--is this an erotic retreat? (I had assumed they meant culinary "Schmankerl")

Goodness! I am SO naive, never though of that.
agree Björn Vrooman : Schmankerl = delicacies; so all testing, trying, and sampling is not part of the word.

or culinary tasting party
Plenty of G-hits for both.
Peer comment(s):

agree Armorel Young : "food-tasting evening/night" (with a hyphen, as you suggest) would do it for me

To discover new things (etwas Anderes entdecken), you have to sample them.

gourmet evening

Schmankerl is the Bavarian word for delicacy. In English you would not say delicacy evening, so gourmet evening or culinary evening would be the best fit.
