Spanish term

exploración por aparatos dentro de la normalidad

Spanish to English Medical Medical (general) exploración física

Saludos,
Esther

review of systems within normal limits

In this case, "aparatos" means "systems" (in a medical sense, as in cardiovascular system, nervous system, digestive etc.). See this definition from the DRAE:

m. Biol. Conjunto de órganos que en los seres vivos desempeña una misma función. Aparato reproductor, circulatorio, digestivo.

There is a standard part of the physical examination called the Review of Systems. the University of California web site describes it like this: "The Review of Systems (or symptoms) is a list of questions, arranged by organ system, designed to uncover dysfunction and disease."

So here we have a physical report with the usual review of systems, finding that everything is normal ... "within normal limits" is the standard way of expressing this in English.

From Wikipedia:

"A review of systems (ROS), also called a systems enquiry or systems review, is a technique used by healthcare providers for eliciting a medical history from a patient. Along with the physical examination, it can be particularly useful in identifying conditions that do not have precise diagnostic tests."

Also:

"The review of systems often includes all the main systems in the body that may provide an opportunity to mention symptoms or concerns that the individual may have failed to mention in the history."

Thank you Erzsébet. I'm very lucky to have worked in a hospital where I had the opportunity to read and hear a lot of medical terminology.

physical examination with instruments, normal

I think your interpretation is right.
While there is a possiblity that it may refer to imaging diagnostics (CT, MRI, ultrasound, etc.), given that it continues a sentence discussing eyesight, weight, height, etc. then it probably means normal, hand-held instruments (stethoscope, reflex hammer, palpatation [the doctor's own hands], etc.).

Thanks Neil, if it's just a normal a physical exam, I'm not sure whether a GP would break it down according to each body system. I think we need more context to decide.... or maybe the asker can tell from their overall piece. Let's wait and see....
neutral Joseph Tein : Sorry,Neil. It has nothing to do with instruments. See Charles' comment under neilmac's response, also my suggested answer and the DRAE definition. And yes, indeed, a GP would break it down according to each body system (in reply to your comment above.)

Okay Joseph, no need to be sorry, I've come across "aparatos" meaning "systems" before, good to refresh the memory ;@)

I checked one of the reports translated in the past:
Síntomas generales: ****
Interrogatorio por aparatos y sistemas:
Exploración física:

Interrogatorio por los aparatos y sistemas: tiene por objetivo el recopilar los síntomas mostrativos de la repercusión que tiene el padecimiento actual sobre los diferentes sistemas. Se deberá iniciar con el sitema afectado en el padecimiento actual. Hacer semiología de todo dato positivo (=still unclear, device or tool)

neutral Joseph Tein : Hi again Erzsébet. See my answer. // I don't think that "no pathology was visualized/observed" is helpful in this case, although your last entry is a good Spanish description of the "interrogatorio por aparatos"

Systemic examination within normal parameters

systemic
adjective
1.
relating to a system, especially as opposed to a particular part. "the disease is localized rather than systemic"
...

Systemic examination is carried out by an internist and the anesthesiologist. The main objectives of systemic examination are threefold: (1) to recognize contraindications to general anesthesia, or occasionally to local anesthesia, (2) to evaluate associated systemic diseases that may require specific management before and after the operation for retinal detachment management, and (3) to avoid systemic complications postoperatively.

My take is that "por aparatos" refers to a more detailed (systemic) examination of the different "aparatos" (systems), for example the "aparato digestivo" (digestive system)... etc

(En anatomía, un aparato es un conjunto de órganos que desempeñan una misma función y más amplia que un sistema. Por ejemplo, aparato digestivo.)

agree Charles Davis : I'm sure it's aparatos as in body systems. The other would be "con aparatos".

agree Otto Albers (X) : In the study of medical science, the first thing the student comes to see on a daily basis is "aparatos y sistemas", the sistematic integration of all things that work towards an end. The aparatos has nothing to do with the use of equipment.
