Business/Commerce (general)
I am trying to avoid repeating the word "valor" and "valores" for "value" and for "security." It just sounds so repetitive! Here is the complete paragraph:
Many prefer making a gift of appreciated securities because they will receive the full value of the securities as the gift value and pay no capital gains tax. Please consult your personal tax advisor regarding the special rules for gifts of appreciated property.

el importe (total)
That's all it means.
It is NOT a "tasa" or a "suma" or a "precio". It's simply an amount of money resulting from the securities in question.
(And from the scant context provided it sounds more like a donation inter vivos than anything to do with Business/Commerce).

Note from asker:
Thank you, Andy. This was all the context I had. Since there seemed to be no category for donations inter vivos, I decided to use Business/Commerce. Sorry if I mislead anyone. |

También podrías traducir "value" como "valor" y "securities" como "títulos", que es plenamente equivalente a "valores".
Pero si prefieres mantener "securities" como "valores", estaría de acuerdo con Andy y traduciría "valor" por "importe".
