Several words spoken by a Texan girl

Non-PRO English Other General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters Two sentences two fast for me to understand
I was trying to transcribe the dialogues from a very old US movie released in 1944. I've found two sentences that I cannot understand. The girl is from Texas and she speaks very fast.

What I understand is:

- Yeah, but I know [.....]
- Oh, yes, to be excused.
- Could he certainly [.......] and showed up.

Any help, please?

Went searching out of curiosity, found this Tex Tuttle: This coffee's so strong now it ought to be carrying me instead of vice versa. Well, what happened to our little prowler?
Alice Hill: Oh, he asked to be excused.

Damn, what happened to our little prowler

- Damn, what happened to our little prowler (?)
- Oh, he has to be excused.
- Well he certainly scooted out of here fast enough when two other men showed up.
Peer comment(s):

agree Terry Richards : I think it's "asked to be excused" but the rest sounds right.

agree, makes more sense
agree Sheri P : I don't think it's "damn"; I'm pretty sure it's "well."
