Russian to English Art/Literary Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting Abstract art
This term appears regularly in this essay on a new movement in art. The author is referring to the need to move beyond the art of the likes of Malevich, Mondrian, Kandinsky, Barnett Newman, and so on. Here are two sentences in which the term is used:

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

eventually degraded into creation of meaningless forms.

... got lost altogether in the sea of meaningless form

Naturally, there's no one right way of saying this. It's what you think you like best. You could also work something like "meaningless formalism" into the sentence but personally I don't like it as much.

On a totally different note, the author seems to be full of hot air. Ordinarily, those who spend their time producing artistic manifestos never have what it takes to do any art worth looking at. Just you look at Marcel Duchamp, of countless others.

agree LilianNekipelov : forms perhaps.
