When there is a perceived notion that the teacher thinks he has all the answers while the students are all in the dark, it creates distance in the relationship and reinforces the student’s initial skepticism. The more vulnerability the teacher expresses, the more closeness is formed between teacher and students. The students begin to see you as a human being, just like them. Once you are emotionally open to them they will respond in kind.
