you are right, different versions and different translations. in many Bible versions one may come across wrong translations. Now I am translating from Rev. but translations are different from the King James version, so I have to translate the verses as well according to the King James version

To Turimurot No it's not from a psalm, but it is a consciously archaic phrase, which is why I posted the Biblical reference. From the words "sweet singer", the writer may well think it's from a psalm, though! On the other hand, the phrase also occurs in one of the poems set to the Londonderry Air: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Londonderry_Air

It's a phrase used in the King James Bible: Would God I had died for thee (2 Samuel 18:33, or 2 Царств 18:33: О кто дал бы мне умереть вместо тебя

Странная фраза, с грамматической точки зрения. Псалма такого не знаю, и если бы это была точная цитата, было бы легко найти в гугле. )
Могу предположить (если это уместно для данного текста) ссылку на песню христианской группы AVALON "You Were There" http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/avalon/youwerethere.html.
Возможно, это перефраз. Слова оригинальной песни - Бог, ты всегда был там. А здесь - мы были там с Богом (если, опять же предположить, что не Would, а With).
