English term (edited):
competition ranking
soutěž pořadí
(1, 2, 2, 2, 5) refers to 5 "people" where there is a first, a fifth and a three-way tie for the in-between places.
Note from asker:
"Soutěž pořadí" means "contest of rankings", but IMHO "competition" would rather be (that's what I'm not positively sure about) "konkurence" or something like that (the values are not "fighting" for the best place, they just happen to be identical and they share the same place - "competition" on the same place). |

ta Vámi uvedená dvě schémata bych nazval optimistická (12225) a pesimistická (14445)

Standard competition ranking ("1224" ranking)
In competition ranking, items that compare equal receive the same ranking number, and then a gap is left in the ranking numbers. The number of ranking numbers that are left out in this gap is one less than the number of items that compared equal. Equivalently, each item's ranking number is 1 plus the number of items ranked above it. This ranking strategy is frequently adopted for competitions, as it means that if two (or more) competitors tie for a position in the ranking, the position of all those ranked below them is unaffected (i.e., a competitor only comes second if exactly one person scores better than them, third if exactly two people score better than them, fourth if exactly three people score better than them, etc.).

Note from asker:
Discussion
Indeed "competition" is the name, but I need something in Czech - there are like seven possible meanings/translations of the word itself, and I'm somewhat reluctant to see "contest of rankings" as the best option for my context, for reasons outlined earlier.
(a) - (k)
Just to make the point again, "Competition" is a name for the algorithm (1, 2, 2, 2, 5). Other algorithms have different names - I have no idea if an English name even exists for the (1, 3, 3, 3, 5) algorithm.
There probably isn't an accepted Czech name for (1, 2, 2, 2, 5). A standard solution in such a case is to use the English word in quotes "competition" (or equivalently "soutěž"), with an explanatory note. So, I'm suggesting a rephrasing something like "the ranking system (1, 2, 2, 2, 5), known as the 'competition' algorithm"
Pořadí soutěže. ( a tady by to znamenalo nejlepsi vysledek pořadi pro druhé místo)
Změněné pořadí soutěže ( a tady by to znamenalo nejhorší vysledek pořadí prodruhé místo.
Zdravim. Roberto

Ordinal/Unique (1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
There are various choices as to what place one gives to the three people whose scores tie. It makes perfect sense to say they are equal second, or equal third, or equal fourth. There is even an argument for giving each a value that is different from an integer! The value assigned may well matter if there are subsequent competitions.
Whatever choice/algorithm is made needs to be named to distinguish it from the others. "competition ranking" is the name given to the algorithm that says all three people are in second place i.e. (1, 2, 2, 2, 5).
And of course, this applies to whatever is being ranked - I use "people" as an easy example. That's why is have quotes "people" in my answer.
