Hospital Care of Newborns
"Der universelle Andockmechanismus ABC passt an jeden Inkubator bzw. Wärme- und Krabblerbettchen, die mit einer Normschiene ausgestattet sind.
Verschiedene Adaptersysteme ermöglichen das Verbinden von Krabblerbettchen, bzw. Stieglmeyer oder Hill-Rom Betten auch im Erwachsenen Bereich."
From a text about a transport system for newborn babies. I have absolutely no idea what is meant by "Wärme- und Krabblerbettchen", especially the "Krabblerbettchen" part, and can't find a translation for it anywhere. I guess a "Wärmebettchen" would be a warming bed or warming cot, or something, but "Krabblerbettchen" is completely beyond me. TIA for any light you can shed on this obscure word.

Many thanks. I myself was also more certain about "toddler bed", specially as it is meant for a hospital!

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer.
Comment: "You get the points mainly for "toddler bed", which I feel certain enough about to enter in the KudoZ glossary. Many thanks for that. After further Googling, I decided "warming bed" was the way to go for Wärmebett. Anyway, many thanks Danik and to the others who offered comments. Appreciate everyone's help."

Stiegelmeyer (not Stieglmeyer)
Hi Rowan, just in case you are unaware of Stiegelmeyer, they are a leading German manufacturer of hospital beds etc. (from my home town).

Note from asker:
I did manage to find this one on Google, as I figured it must be a brand name, but many thanks all the same for that. |

Yes, "crawler bed" sounds ridiculous. Why are Germans always using words we've never heard of?

And why are Germans allowed to use terms in their writing that we can't find in our dictionaries and sound odd to our ears?

Note from asker:
I have looked up "krabbeln", but that really doesn't help me with "Krabblerbett". "Crawler bed" sounds ridiculous. |
I know right! It gets very tedious sometimes. But I think this particular term has now been solved - or at least, I think "toddler bed" is about the closest equivalent to "Krabblerbett" I can hope for. |
