incentive/ promotion

Incentive would be when the prospective customer is given something as an "incentive" to buy the product e.g. a gift, free insurance cover etc., depending on the product.

A promotion is the general term for a Marketingaktion

Incentive

Yes it does get used in english (incentive trips, etc.).
Depends a bit on the context though (would help to have some). Hotels, for example, often have "Promotions" or simply "Special Offers".

Perhaps you vcould give us the sentence?

Yes, absolutely

"Special offer", etc. is a type of incentive (usually to buy something), but it cannot be translated as incentive.

"Promotion" can't be translated as "incentive" although a promotion (sales campaign) may contain an incentive.

An incentive is a tool which a promoter may use in his/her promotion campaign. Or something an employer uses to encourage more work e.g. "incentive bonus".

"Incentive" is the exact word for "incentive".

Hope I haven't confused you!

An alternative word could be "inducement", but be careful here....a "bribe" is also an inducement.
