Rather than saying "to seal the coffin" which is a detail, I'd use "Prepare the coffin for the dead" as the general description in this case. I'm sure you understand the process. If not the link below on this topic no many people like to talk about has more details.

如果用廣東話表達，則有點像將屍體 “收入” 棺材裡面的意思，不會隨便將屍體掉到山上被野獸吃掉、或腐化引致環境健康問題；是對死人的尊重，對大眾安全的考量。
如我之前引用 “说岳全传” 裡面所述 “收棺盛殮”，即表達對去世的人一種尊重的態度。而廣東話很多詞語源自古語，所以個人認為“收棺” ＝ 將屍體放入棺木，過程中將棺木蓋好，或密封 （預備於喪禮上給親朋瞻仰遺容）、或上釘子 （預備上山安葬），也是順理成章之事。不過措詞方面可能在喪禮上或行文上，不能隨便説或寫出來，避免一些禮儀禁忌。
如果要更仔細了解，可能需要問棺木店或殯儀館人員，將會更清楚明白。

福建或閩南用 "出山” ＝ 出殯；廣東人則只用 “出殯”，出殯過程包括在殯儀館舉行有關儀式，然後會 “上山” ，即到墳場安葬。
當我參考 PK Chan 的建議鏈結時，無意中發現英國 Wiltshire 有條街名叫 Coffin Close。四個睡房市值差不多 30萬英鎊已經有買主。

中國人傳統習俗大概都會在喪禮有瞻仰遺容一項，以便親朋好友在走之前可以見最後一面。很少會用 close casket。

PS: You may want to find out more about the background of the person writing this letter or whatever document it is supposed to be. I do not know about other dialects, but 出山 in Minnan dialect means 出殡 in Chinese. If it is the same dialect, as I wrote earlier, 收棺 usually means 入殓 in Chinese. (At least this is what the Hokkiens a.k.a. Minnan people over here usually say.) Hope this helps.
