English term

bare / unpadded wood

English to Russian Tech/Engineering Military / Defense
Context: "never use a hard shooting support (such as bare wood)" (about bore-sighting)

The text is presumably originally translated from Finnish, and there the term could (or at least should) have been 'pehmustamaton' (unpadded).

I tried to find suitable Russian expressions, but I wasn't anyhow successful.
