Italian term
aspetto debolmente fluttuante
Italian to English
Medical
Medical (general)
diabetes
This is from a hospital report on a diabetic patient who needed to have his foot amputated:
"Paziente con piede diabetico ... ampio ematoma della pianta del piede con aspetto debolmente fluttuante."
I'm not sure how to translate "fluttuante" here ... online dictionaries give "fluctuating, floating, changeable, variable" and I don't see that any of these fits here in describing the appearance of a hematoma. For "debolmente" we could say "slightly" and not necessarily "weakly" but I still need to know what to do with "fluttuante".
Thanks for your help with this one.

mildly painful kind / mildly fluctuating
Painful hematoma is aka fluctuating hematoma.
I would translate "aspetto" as "variety"/"kind" or drop it altogether.

Joseph, Judy is right and I'm wrong: I should've paid more attention to the presence of the term "aspetto": obviously here they talk about the physical rather than symptomatic features of the h-ma....
Should I put a "disagree" to myself? :)))

But don't worry, I don't want to put you out... :))))

Note from asker:
You don't need to post a "disagree" to yourself ... I could do it for you as a favor (to help you out). |
