specialista ds. IT
One of non-managerials (possibly junior, but there could also be junior IT associate) full time, non consulting positions in a company IT hierarchy; a line employee of the IT department, usually responsible for particular system or support level.
Unless, the the company we are talking about is an IT consulting firm setup as partnerships and with the name something like "XXX and Associates" - then it could be a positi0on of partner or associate. But in this case we would say "he was offerred a partnership in..." or "he is a company associate" as a legal term and would not have any referrence to "IT" in it's name, even though the firm would be an IT consulting outlet.
So therefore I opt for "specjalista ds. IT"

Wiem bo sam kiedyś byłem "an IT associate"

Discussion

I thus understand, the "pomocnik informatyka" is not fully IT guy, he's the IT student, engineer or not, or otherwise - just helps/assists the company's IT guy(s). The conclusion is, he/she is not a regular IT engineer (undergraduate ?), but perhaps it's all about.
For me, the "IT associate" is an IT engineer with a company who "connects/integrates" -- thus - he/she associates the company business with the computing and telecom environments at this/such company.
