Data from the report "Greenitaly 2013 - Nutrire il Futuro" by Unioncamere and Symbola Foundation indicate about 100 billion euro of value added (10.6%) resulting from green companies in Italy: 328.000 enterprises, more than 22% of the total.
These companies, that have invested and are still investing in green technologies to reduce the environmental impact and save energy, this year will cover the 38% of all planned recruitments in industry and services sectors in Italy (216,500 out of a total of 563 400). Green economy means innovation: 30.4% of firms that have invested in eco-efficiency have made innovations in products or services, compared with 16.8% of firms not investing. It means profitability: 21.1% of manufacturing firms eco-investing has grown its revenues in 2012, while the others no eco-investing improved in 15.2% of cases.
Among the sectors that are driving green investments in Italy, the Greenitaly report puts evidence on some sectors: the food sector (27.7% of green investing firms), agriculture (49.1%), ***wood-Mobile*** (30.6%), the sector of machines and equipment manufacturing and transport equipment (30.2%), and then the textile, clothing, footwear and leather (23%).
