switch on / activate / close
I prefer the terms like "switch on" or "activate" because they communicate well what is going on. While "close" (meaning "close-the-circuit") is correct, somehow I always have to process the meaning in my head.

Alternative to "closing" a circuit, for more abrupt action. What a trip-switch / circuit breaker does, described from the opposite side. Jistič "sepne" i když vlastně 'rozepne'.
