Unterschenkelbycast

German to English Medical Medical (general) Fracture treatment - casts
The "bycast" bit has me puzzled. It appears in a medical report on a patient with a broken ankle. We already have a reference to an "Unterschenkelgips" in the previous line so I'm curious as to what the difference is. It appears in a list of recommended actions, without giving too much personal detail away:

Anpassen eines Unterschenkelgipses.
Im Verlauf nach Abschwellen Anpassen eines Unterschenkelbycast.
Mobilisation an Unterarmgehstützen.

I get the idea of a short-leg cast, but what am I to make of the "bycast" in the second line?

Baycast, of course! I have been looking at Unterschenkelbycast like "no, that's not it" for about 15 minutes and just could not recall the correct name :-))

Product name I haven't found any reference, but I know that a bycast is a lightweight cast for fractures. I had one when I fractured my fibula a few years back. It was a temporary cast prior to surgery. I think it's the name of the material.
