This paragraph concerns the basic remuneration. It states:
"Die Grundvergütung errechnet sich aus der Zuordnung der Tätigkeit zu Band 4 entprechend §4 des VTV (Vergütungstarifvetrages) und der Positionierung innerhalb des Bandes gemäß §5 des VTV."
I have no idea what "Band" here means, as 'volume' sounds a bit off. Here is my attempt using 'volume':
The basic remuneration shall be computed through the classification of work of Volume 4 corresponding to § 4 of the Vergütungstarifvertrag (VTV) [Collective Remuneration Agreement] and the positioning within the Volume pursuant to § 5 of the VTV [Collective Remuneration Agreement].
This sounds very odd to me - any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Could it simply be "band"? Just as different jobs within an organisation are grouped into bands for pay purposes, I see no reason why individual activities can't be too. So that would give you something like "The basic remuneration shall be calculated based on the fact that the work involved is rated as Band 4 as per § 4 of the Vergütungstarifvertrag (VTV)..." etc.
