zapfengründung

German to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering Foundations for steel poles
Context is foundations for steel overhead power line poles. (Freileitungsmast)
Die Zapfengründung bietet mehrere Vorteile einschl. Anfahrschutz und einer Lastreserve von ....
Bei dieser Bauweise können Korrosionsprobleme im Erdübergangsbereich vermieden werden.
Der Bewehrungskorb für den Zapfen wird mitgeliefert.

Does anyone know the correct technical term for this kind of foundation?

Gründung vs. Erdung I fully agree with Richard regarding the difference between 'Gründung' (which is never used in an electrical sense in German) and 'Erdung'. Also, 'Anfahrschutz' is to be understood in a mechanical sense here (i.e. [vehicle] impact protection), as also correctly pointed out by Richard.

erdung - gründung no confusion on my side and I know the difference.
One fact is that Schutzanfahr relates to electricity.
I can't see how lug foundation can be related easily to that electrical fact.
A piece of equipment can be protected through grounding, earthing, earth (Erdung in German). So what makes sense, the German or the English words It is for the asker to decide.

There is no ambiguity between 'Gründung' and 'Erdung'. German-speaking engineers do not mix up these terms. Water in the soil poses corrosion problems for steel and steer-reinforced concrete foundations. Evidently these 'pin(?)' foundations help solve this problem while providing additional load supporting capacity (Lastreserve).

Yes it is ambiguous but what about the reference to avoiding corrosion problems as described below, which also makes sense? And the Lastreserve? mechanical or electrical loads. Unfortunately only a very short magazine article with minimal context.

Structural civil engineering seems to be the context for 'Gründung' here (i.e. 'foundations'), not in an electrical sense with something being 'grounded' or 'earthed'. In this case 'Anfahrschutz" is indeed a mechanical feature to prevent damage to the mast when bumped by vehicles.

"Vorteile einschl. Anfahrschutz" is not a mechanical feature on electrical poles, but an electrical one and a straitgh translation of Zapfengründung would be lug grounding-That offers a protection against corrosion in diverting current from the metallic poles. But as such it in not used and I would modify it as above
