English to French Tech/Engineering Automotive / Cars & Trucks Tractor pump
Hi, another problem for me here: the whole sentence is "A step in the pump body, as a result of oscillation of the actuator, causes the actuator to stick and to hold the pump on full High Pressure Stand-by." I don't understand how "step" is to be translated in this context. Thanks everybody.

En effet en fin de couse le piston appuie d'un certain côté plus que l'autre, cela crée une empreinte qui n'est pas régulière.
Peut être que empreinte ou marquage de fin de course est la bonne idée

If I am reading the context correctly, this 'step' is an unwanted feature caused by wear; it means a change in diameter (etc.) that should not be there.

I'm not sure what term to use in FR, but both of these terms seem to be used in what I would judge to be comparable circumstances.
