So long the giants in Europe of the black and white graphic line, now
all was changed and winter falls on this part of the giant’s garden.
Looking back from mid-century as the Second World War approaches,
one can only marvel at the energy unleashed around the appearance and
arrangement of written words in the century’s first forty years. It is as
if, after experiencing a sense of being overwhelmed by written material
in the final decades of the nineteenth century, now there has been a
great striving of the senses towards new ways of embodying them as a
personally felt expression.

Stesso concetto con altre parole e un'altra costruzione, secondo me un po' più fluida.
