[Name of officer] matricola XXX di [Name of city] con convenzione TP/TI e SBARCA COMUNE DI MACCHINA [Name of officer] matricola XXX di PORTO EMPEDOCLE per U.F.R.
I'm almost tempted to think that it is a geographical location, because Porto Empedocle is an "Italian comune," but I can't find any evidence of a "Comune di Macchina." In this series of documents, I've also run into the expressions "locale macchina" and "in macchina," which I am taking to be the engine room or machinery space. Possibly this is related, but this doesn't seem to fit in well with "sbarcare" unless it just means that he left that area of the ship at that time? Thanks for any insights!

I think I've got it: the right translation should be "engine-room rating" meaning an ordinary seaman working in the engine-room; please see also:

Note from asker:
This makes more sense in the context, but how do you relate this specifically to comune di macchina? |
