Non-PRO English to Chinese Art/Literary
Turns out the man is hearing-impaired, a.k.a. deaf as a post, if you’re not PC. In a noisy pub he had no chance of hearing what Isley was on about.

Politically Correct Language:
For a person who cannot hear, the term deaf is most often used. If the person has some hearing, the term hearing impaired might be used.

agree chica nueva : 'deaf as a post' means someone can't hear a thing. The tone is similar to 'blind as a bat'. ie not very kind.
