"The park today is the largest surviving example of Lancelot ‘Capability' Brown's work in the country. The serpentine lake with a waterfall descending into a dell, the balustrade bridge with Coadestone lions, banqueting house, model farm and gamekeeper's cottage, carriage drive and park layout into Upper, Middle and Lower park are all by Brown. neutral Tony M : Right idea, but I'm not sure if 'vallonné' really conveys it well; the idea of a 'dell' here is merely that of a small hollow or dip, on quite a small scale.

...

Here is a nice photo of the dell garden at Bressingham (Diss, in Norfolk) — it sums up well all that a dell garden implies, as described by David above.

it's a type of garden

dell garden is a type of garden. The word 'dell' is translated in wordreference as 'petite vallée', anyway i can't find a EN-FR correspondance

agree Tony M : 'dell' is also translated as 'vallon', but I'm not sure that's quite appropriate in the context here.
