'connexion' in this text is an object, and refers to couplings. That's why the text talks of "family of...". A better word would have been RACCORD in place of CONNEXION.

: You are wrong about that John. There are many "manchon" terms that are related to tubes, e.g. manchon de raccord = connecting sleeve, manchon d'accouplement = coupling sleeve
