Jornada Científica

Spanish to English Medical Medical (general)
This is taken from a list of "Conferencias Dictadas" in bullet points, delivered by an hispanic doctor.

I originally translated Jornada Científica as Scientific Conference but the words Conferencia and Congreso also appear in the text. The full sentence from ST is:

"VI Jornada Científica de Laboratorio Clínico, (date) Conferencia: Plaquetas en el Paciente Pediátrico"

"VI Scientific Meeting/ Discussion of Clinical Laboratory (-ies ?)" does not sound great.

Any help would be welcome!

Symposium Here's the Merriam-Webster definition of 'symposium':
a meeting at which several speakers deliver short addresses on related topics or on various aspects of the same topic.
I think 'short' is the operative word here, and that there's no need to specify one-day. Conferences tend to deal with a broader range of topics and have parallel sessions. The same can apply to workshops, though the term covers a range of events; it implies informality and interaction.

Perhaps Conferencia could be translated as Lecture and Jornada as Conference.

Science Day sounds to me like an event at a primary school rather than an international meeting for Pediatric specialists. Just my view, perhaps it is a mistaken one

I am aware that the most typical translation of Jornada is Day. However, in a medical context it can also mean Meeting; Discussion; Conference, all of which sound more appropriate in this context. The problem is I can't decide which is best! Perhaps none..

It sounds like you're misunderstanding "conferencia", which here means "lecture/presentation". "Jornada" presumably means "day" or "one-day seminar".

Scientific Day

I googled "Scientific Day" and had thousands of hits. As far as I could see, a one-day conference may be refered as a Scientific Day.

Science Day

The term "Science Day" is used quite a lot in relation to engaging people from schools, but not only for that.
Scientific Day seems to be used a lot for e.g. MSF (from the French?) and some Canadian-based bodies
