English term

(emissions related) derates

English to Turkish Tech/Engineering Automotive / Cars & Trucks araç yazılımına belli bir ayar değerinin kaydedilmesi / geri çağrılması
Acaba burada söz konusu olan: "emisyon sınırlaması"mı? Bir çeşit emisyon tarifesi mi?

Zorunlu düşük emisyon değerini sağlamak için araç hızı / devir vb. elektronik/mekanik olarak sınırlanıyor mu?

...
XYZ option enables to operate without emissions related derates for a specified time.
...

Bkz. Sn. Jamgocyan ile olan yazışmam (onun yanıtında).

derate = inducement

What is meant by ‘Inducement’ or ‘derate’ and what does it mean to me as a customer?
“Inducement” is an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) term aimed at
keeping engines which utilize Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) aftertreatment operating properly. An ‘inducement’ may also be referred to as an engine derate. There are three primary events that could initiate an inducement/derate: (1) Low Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) level, (2) Incorrect fluid in DEF tank, and (3) SCR Faults. The driver will recognize this as a performance penalty initiated by the Electronic Control Module (ECM), resulting in a loss of vehicle speed or engine power (torque).

In the European experience it was found that trucks were running with water in their DEF tanks as there was no anti-cheating strategy - or inducement -- to keep the DEF tank filled. Running without fluid defeated the NOx removal and meant engines were running at orders of magnitude above the NOx limits.
EPA was well aware of this shortcoming and as part of the guidelines to allowing SCR technology to meet EPA2010, the agency required SCR proponents to have strategies to induce operators to keep DEF on board and the aftertreatment systems functional.

By manufacturing and packaging H2Blu in its own facility, Wakefield is able to absolutely control the product’s purity. Purity is critical to the operation of today’s SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) clean diesel vehicles; impurities can cause engines to operate improperly, slow down (derate) or even stop.

Note from asker:
Thanks for interfering and all the valuable information. It is indeed about Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR), some other involved equipments and surely the DEF. It is also about ETA <-> EU/TR emission regulations for the big vehicles :) I have the term derate(s) just a couple of times in the doc and it is unfortunately taken out of context. I think (I am still not sure), because of the emission regulations, a derate (Herabsetzen) will be applied to the engine to keep the required emission standard, and as you've mentioned, it results in a loss of engine power / vehicle speed. So, that's why I think I'm gonna translate the term "derate/s" as "güç kaybı" (~loss of power/Leistungsverlust). Herzlichen Dank. Rasim
BTW, there is emergency option, which enables a SCR equipped vehicle to operate without emissions related derates.
One more question, sorry: Or by derate/inducement (according to ETA) is meant "Anlass der Aufhebung der Leistungsbeschränkung" Because in an emergency case, there are no emissions related derates in a SCR engine. Thanks.
