In Ancient Greek, a ποίημα (poem) could refer to anything created by human hand or mind. In English, it is therefore quite legitimate to translate "poetico" as "artistic" or "creative" if the Italian refers to something - a "tentativo" in this case - that is palpably not a literary creation in verse.
