Blade arrangement
The points should have replaceable spring-loaded blades in Dillidur 400 or Hardox 400, alternatively Manganese. The blade sliding plate should be supplied in minimum quality 1,300 N/mm. The design of the blades shall be in accordance with the VDV OR14.3.2-Z3 Blatt 01 [R11]. The blade section should also be supplied with compartment for blade heater including housing. The blades should also accommodate the design of wheel profile and worn wheel profile in accordance with a typical wear profile. The blades should be manufactured and fitted so that they carry no voltage in 35 mm open position.

Blade deflection max: 70 mm
Blade deflection min: 32 mm
Attachment of blade rods: Blade bolt
Distance between driving rods and blade test rods: 230 mm ± 2 mm
Distance from blade point to blade test rod: 350 mm ± 2 mm

In the rigid rail, Ø70 holes should be drilled for driving rod and Ø50 for blade test rod. A housing should be welded to the outside of the rigid rail to protect the holes for driving rod and blade test rod, so as to allow hosing of the holes. Alternatively a housing with lid can be supplied.

The blade sliding plate should be supplied in minimum quality 1,300 N/mm2.

Surface coating of sliding plate
As an alternative the sliding plate may be supplied with a sufficiently low coefficient of friction that the blades of the points may be closed without the use of lubricants on the sliding surfaces. The coating must be corrosion resistant in the types of environment the points will be exposed to. The coating should meet the following requirements for its entire life cycle: ...

Correction
Before machining checks should be made that rails and blade materials
meet the tolerances for straightness/crookedness given in EN 14811 [S81].

Cutting
All cutting of rails and blade materials should be done with chipping tools. The edges of the cut surfaces should be bevelled 45°.

The pressure blocks should follow the entire rail/blade profile and be dimensioned so that they do not create local indentations in the rail.

All machined, uncovered and exposed sections of the points, such as blades, rigid rails, frog points, wing rails and point rails, should – once the points have been installed and inspected – be made thoroughly clean and given a coat of corrosion preventing paint.

All milling marks should be planed away from areas where spacing blocks, blade supports etc. will come into contact with the rail stem.

Blade arrangement
The blade should have the correct shape – straight or curved – when fully applied to the rigid rail. The blades should have unhindered movement and be fully in contact with the rigid rail in the closed position.
When fitting the blade arrangement max 1 mm clearance is allowed between blade and rigid rail or between blade and blade support. The distance between open blade point and rigid rail should be min 32 mm and max 70 mm. The blades should be manufactured and fitted so that they carry no voltage in 35 mm open position.

Rail crossings
Tolerances in accordance with the requirements of VDV Oberbau-Richtlinien, section OR.13.4.[R11].

Blades
A tolerance of ± 0.5 mm is allowed in the thickness of the various sections of the planed blade parts.

Marking neutral position of blade
The position of the blade point when applied against the rigid rail when the blades are in the neutral position should be marked on the rigid rails. The marking should consist of a white paint line on the running surface and 3
centre marks on the side where the blade point contacts.

The supplier should recommend the number of working points and/or control points for safe change-over of blades; max gap between working points/anchor points should nowhere exceed 9 mm in the moveable part of
the blade. The smallest distance between open blade and rigid rail should be 58 mm. The supplier should recommend and supply adapters between the points’ horizontal inclination and the sleepers’ inclination of 1:40.
