Norwegian term
få ut
Norwegian to English
Bus/Financial
Human Resources
This comes from an article about emergency response procedures for workplace accidents.
This phrasal verb is confusing me. In the context below does it mean to "provide information" or to "gather information"?
"De skal blant annet opprette et krisesenter, ta seg av ansatte og pårørende, håndtere media, få ut informasjon og organisere allmøter."
Many thanks in advance.

disseminate
In communication theory, information dissemination is an entire half of the theory.
In emergencies, information dissemination is the distribution of information by authorized government agencies.

Note from asker:
Thank you for your useful input. "Disseminate" is, indeed, also correct. The text as a whole was rather 'chatty' in style, however, and although you couldn't know that from the small amount of context I gave, I plumped for Leif's answer. I have added 'disseminate' to the KudoZ glossary entry however. |

: Disseminate is better than distribute, as distribute indicates that information is a physical object.

Discussion
Phrasal verbs are something I will always find very tricky, so it's good to have your support here!
When I make my final read-through of the text, I will decide which of your options I think fits the context best, as it is rather "chatty" in its style.
However, I see a distinction here. In this case, 'få ut' implies a sort of organized activity, utilising diverse channels to press, media, authorities, etc. to make sure correct information is available for all who might require it.
Informing employees, answering questions from media etc. would certainly fall under 'provide information', but in this case I would prefer 'distribute'.
