The McGraw-Hill definition you cite is only one very narrow usage, in a very specific field; if that corresponds to yourr context, then all well and good; but if not, then I'd say it's unlikely to be applicable.

'câble' (NB: with circumflex!) is probably the safest, most non-committal solution that you have found in your TM; but with more context, it is possible that a more appropriate term might be found.

In client's TM, it has been translated severally as Cable.
I just want t be sure that there is no better way of rendering it.
