I'm actually translating a medical report of an outbreak of legionellosis at a restaurant. The report list several sources that could be harboring the bacteria. These include...

- dos fuentes exteriores,
- una fuente interior
- un sistema de refrigeración evaporativa con ventiladores
- una champanera

I'm assuming the "fuentes" are "fountains", but what is a champanera? Google searches show nothing but champagne holders (the ice buckets to keep them cool). Surely the authors don't mean the ice buckets, right? If they were referring to them, why does it refer to it in the singular (una)?

Any help would be appreciated.

More information on the champanera Here's more from further in the report...

"En cuanto a la champanera, su fundamento es obtener una niebla densa más pesada que el aire, producto de evaporar el agua a temperatura ambiente, mediante un dispositivo electrónico de ultrasonido, que tiene la particularidad de generar aerosoles de un muy pequeño tamaño que son susceptibles de penetrar hasta los alvéolos pulmonares."

Roland Ice in restaurants and bars is notoriously prone to microbial contamination. There's a well known story about someone who tested the ice in a fast food restaurant and found it contained more bacteria than the water in the toilets:

agree Charles Davis : Just "wine cooler" would do. Restaurant ice often harbours bacteria (see discussion) and perhaps this restaurant only has one in use.
