This is actually defined, and I still don't understand what I should call "rebo" in English. Context is a "leading role character" and "secondary role character" (both of which are essentially robots).
ワキ役キャラクター、以下リーボと称する
Since the leading role character is abbreviated to the "lead", I'm thinking "sidekick." But can anyone explain the meaning of リーボ in a literal sense? Thanks.

Could this possibly be a shorter reference to droid robot character LE-BO2D9, from Lucas's 'Star Wars' classic :?
That character did project as an ever willing, sometimes clumsy looking but resourceful helper, from what I can remember...

My initial description was approximate and biased, as I confused Leebo (see http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/File:Leebo.jpg) with r2D2's side kick "C-3PO" (see http://whatculture.com/film/which-characters-could-return-in...

A Google search brought up your example sentence in a patent. Notice that for シテ役キャラクター they use 省略する, while for リーボ they're using 称する. It is also referred to as リーボ within the dialog. In other words, I think this is just the character's name.
Now, the transliteration should really be decided by the designers, so if you have the option of asking someone, that's what I'd do. Otherwise, you'll just have to pick something. The patent is by Toyota, and they had a vehicle called a Revo, so I just picked that. Reevo, Livo, Leevo, Ribo, Reebo... there are lots of possibilities.

Character's name
Assuming that the quotes used throughout the patent will be used in the actual system (such as シテ役はリーボを心配して「リーボ、大丈夫か」), it is safe to say that the designers have given the "sidekick" a name. The confusing thing is that "Reebo" [sp?] cannot be associated with a single "sidekick" character since a variety of different characters can be used with this particular system.
If "Reebo" was not a name, it would be quite strange to use it in dialog as written in the patent.
