Discussion

writeaway Mar 11, 2013:
Flemish is forced on Proz But people here learn Dutch at school, not Flemish. Which is amazingly similar to the Dutch spoken by people in NL in any case. Like US, UK, Can, Aus etc English. But for English we can list our versions. For Dutch we can't. It's that simple.
Wiard Sterk Mar 11, 2013:
Flemish @writeaway Interesting, although denying the existence of Flemish, you give it as part of your language pairs (Flemish to English) on your profile. Also, 'de Vlaamingen' will disagree strongly with you in 'Vlaams', I guess. Oh well,...
writeaway Mar 11, 2013:
it wasn't noted/marked/flagged as a vehicle to be sought/looked for. Not great Nl syntax but that's the way many people seem to write nowadays/
ce n'était pas signalé comme véhicule recherché

to be flagged (in the database)

This seems to be Flemish rather than Dutch. I think this means that the vehicle wasn't flagged as being wanted by the police (f.i. as a vehicle reported stolen).

Greenville, a northeast suburb of Dallas is the latest city to acquire a new automatic license plate scanning systems for their police department. This system will be used by the police department to search for stolen cars, and identify drivers and cars flagged in the database as wanted by the police.

Peer comment(s):

neutral writeaway : Belgian Dutch as opposed to Nl Dutch. There is no such language as Flemish. The Flemish are nederlandtalig. /where does database come from?

Does your neutral also apply to the answer as such? / I added "in the database" merely for explanatory purposes, not really as part of the answer as such. In order to be flagged, the vehicle must be registered in some kind of database.
agree Textpertise : Agree with your answer, Kitty. Not flagged as missing.

Thanks :-)
agree Michael Beijer : @writeaway: Flemish is just a word we use to mean the type of Dutch spoken in Belgium. It is a useful distinction.
