Call me Lucy. Charlie Brown was such a needy guy! You're the second person to make me laugh this dreary gray Monday morning in London so thanks!

"Nog nergens heb ik echter vermeld gevonden de Cristietsen door Cornelis de Bruin in zijn Reizen over Moskovie, door Persie en Indie genoemd als de soort volgende op de Poestietsen met de bijvoeging dat zij ‘weinig in koleur van de onzen verschillen."

Merchants used to call themselves after the geographical place where they did their business
Een derde verklaring is dat ‘Persie’ helemaal niks met dat land in het Midden-Oosten te maken heeft. Er is een streek in Frankrijk, die Le Perche heet. Dat ligt ten Oosten van Normandië. Minder ver weg dan Iran, maar ook wel leuk.
There is also a region in France with the name: Le Perche (closer to home than Persia)
"van" --> from (geographical place)

Could also be "Afrikaans", then the spelling would be correct.

"Persie" is a last name / surname.
This means this name originated not necessarily in the Netherlands, but even if it did, it might require a whole lot of research to find out what it means, if it means anything at all.
You will see that people who have the last name Van Persie overwhelmingly come from Malaysia and The Netherlands with smaller numbers coming from Benin, Spain, the Czech Republic, and Australia. This does not tell us, however, how they happened to have that last name to begin with.
So asker please tell us what is going on so that we can get back to business again.
so something must be wrong with this nonsensical combination of letters (non-word)
you'd better focus on the question what is wrong with this nonsensical combination of letters
perhaps you will be able to infer this from the context
this combination of letters looks like 'Perzië', which is the former name of the country which is now called 'Iran'
so it could be a spelling error of the Dutch name/word "Perzië"
I really do think that in terms of anthropology, you need to be thinking more in terms of this:

correct Dutch spelling: Perzië --> colloquial: Persie
