Me parece perfectamente válido traducirlo tal cual, como señales (o también características). Según el texto, lo que se pretende con las investigaciones es identificar una serie de particularidades de un tumor, lo que incluye reacciones, síntomas, marcadores, etc. Por tanto considero más apropiado un término que abarque estas opciones.
