HDPE spacer for overhead power lines
Specifications for an HDPE spacer for overhead power lines (illustrated here: http://www.plp.com.br/site/index.php?option=com_k2&view=item... ) include a list of letters and numbers cut or engraved into the surface of the item. These include the logo of the manufacturer, the item code, "35 kV" and "*relógio datador*". The latter sounds odd at face value, but rather than being anything mechanical, which sounds rather pointless, could it simply refer to a stamped date (i.e. date of manufacture)?

Comment: "Thanks for this and the reference to examples for sale. Since it was difficult to make out the actual detail on the images supplied, "date code" did nicely without being too specific."

date of manufacture/date stamp
If this is stamped onto the plastic, it obviously cannot be the stamping machine itself. Therefore I believe the source term must mean that the date of manufacture itself is stamped here, perhaps serving as a production batch code.

:) It's a metaphor, anything to indicate the age of an equipment/part/object
