@chris I like "alloys" or maybe soft solder as opposed to andres's answer, thank you, please put in your suggestion!

Brasure Brazing alloys, like solders, come in a wide variety of melting points. Just as "souder" can mean both welding and soldering, ditto "braser", with "brasage" and "soudage" often being used interchangeably. "Brasage" doesn't necessarily mean a high temperature hard solder. I might consider something along the lines of "a low temperature alloy which melts when the voltage surge protector...". In a different context, fusible links are used on fire doors and boiler rooms, etc.

See comment above. A solder or braze is necessarily an alloy, but an alloy isn't necessarily a solder or braze. Ergo "alloy" is a safer bet!
