getting past defensive manoeuvres and achieving a dominant position

This term is used in martial arts. I know it from jiu-jitsu. Basically it means getting past someone's legs and pinning them down by sitting directly on top of them (with their legs behind you).
I am sure you can find some jiu-jitsu videos/diagrams online somewhere that will make it clearer.
Basically it is the achievement of a dominant position.
