French term

Eau en bouchon

French to English Tech/Engineering Petroleum Eng/Sci Water contamination in fuel pipelines
Entities feeding fuel into a pipeline network must put systems in place to prevent:

■ toute entrée d'eau en suspension ou *en bouchon*

No other useful context at this stage, unfortunately.

Any thoughts welcome, please.

Free water

Could be just "free water" :

"Water in the diesel fuel that is not a dissolved component is considered free water."

Hehe :)

"A large amount of free water in the fuel (slug) will rapidly increase the differential pressure, shutting off the fuel flow as the water is absorbed."

I think that the best answer is "free water (slug)".

Peer comment(s):

agree Tony M : Pretty sure it's this, though as the s/t doesn't mention the actual flow, might be tricky to work it in properly.

Thanks, Tony! How about "penetration of ... or plug-flow water"?

water slug [flow]

Slug Flow

"He may be referring to "water slugs". Water as a 3. phase (assuming that even though its a "gas well" what comes out is gas, condensate and water") will have a tendency to accumulate and the arrive to the HP separator/slug catcher and then "fill up" the water separation section and cause the water to continue to 2. stage sep etc."

Not 'flow', just 'water slug', there's no movement implied in 'eau en bouchon'.
