I'm not sure either "aerial" or "airy" works. Here's some more context and an example - it's quite violent, and you can see why they use the word "explosive".

Aeriform / gaseous

This is a term which I think could be used well for describing form and shape in this visual context. A literal translation such as "airy" might connotate too much merriness, lightness and weightlessness which does not seem to be what Maria Angela's artwork is about.
