I'm not sure either about airy or aerial in this context. This brings it across I think.

Aeriform / gaseous
This is a term which I think could be used well for describing form and shape in this visual context. A literal translation such as "airy" might connotate too much merriness, lightness and weightlessness which does not seem to be what Maria Angela's artwork is about.
