Жить нужно легко, не закидывая сеть в океан времени, поскольку в этом все равно нет никакого смысла. Прошлое минуло, будущее ещё не наступило - есть только здесь и сейчас.
Simply doesn't really work because this obviously means "uncomplicated", or "live in the moment", "live for today"...etc.
Considering the "casting a net into the ocean of time" bit, I can't think of the perfect word that fits into the sentence.
Am I making this too complicated? Would "live easily" work? :)
Thanks for your suggestions!

Dear RitaZ, just think about an English phrase 'take it easy'. I'm sure you know about it. Well, the meaning of this phrase is similar to that of the sentence you are asking about.
In "take it easy" phrase the word "easy" means the same as "легко" in your sentence.
