A colleague of mine claims that the word "signature" is used adjectivelly and the word "Exclusions" is a noun in "Signature Exclusions"
Is he correct in his assessment?

exclusion of specific signatures / exclusion by signature
A 'signature' is a sequence of bytes by which a specific type of malware is recognised by the anti-malware engine. The feature in question allows users to specify malware signatures they want the anti-malware facility to disregard - that is, not to quarantine/cure/delete the files containing this signature, because some other software relies on these files. So, whether you interpret 'signature' as a noun is its own right (exclusion OF specific signatures from consideration) or as an attribute (exclusion of files BASED ON their signatures), the meaning won't change much; which variant you should select for your translation obviously depends on the target language.
