Discussion

Non-ProZ.com Jul 28, 2003:
Edith / Klaus I think you guys are probably on the right track here when I have a look at both great refs and compare it to my terrible tech drawings.

Considering advances in technology and home offices, wouldn't it be a good idea to be able to upload scanner/screen shots of our client's ref material for Proz members to have a look at? (without breaching confidentiality of course)

Peer comment(s):

neutral Ken Cox : maybe, but this is an item in a transmission, which does not seem to fit the context here

Sure, true, but it can also be used in a different context.
agree gangels (X) : isn't it some kind of transmission when the pegs or tappets induce a motion?

agree David Moore (X) : Fork*ED shaft would be my tip here

yoked shaft

From the following references, it is likely that the item in question is a shaft with a yoke at one end (with the yoke forming part of a flexible joint):

http://www.klein-gelenkwellen.de/ersatz/252.htm

For an English site with related terminology, see:

http://www.tpub.com/eqopbas/23.htm

As for the translation, it might be better to say 'drive... via a shaft and flexible joint/coupling' instead of '... via a yoked shaft'.
