Please, how do you say, “His mother tore him to pieces verbally.”?
I.e. she said extremely nasty things to him, one after the other, criticizing him viciously:
“You're utterly stupid, completely useless, a sheer waste of space! You're ignorant, filthy and disgusting and bound to end up in jail or on the gallows!” etc. etc.
