Greek term

ειδική εισφορά αλληλεγγύης Φ.Π.

Greek to English Law/Patents Law: Taxation & Customs
On a tax form (εκκαθαριστικό σημείωμα εισφορών και τέλους επιτηδεύματος):

Ειδική εισφορά αλληλεγγύης Φ.Π. (άρθρου 29, ν.3986/2011)

Is there an 'official' translation of this into English?
Thanks

Yes, a special tax. One of those that tend to become permanent...
Dylan Edwards (asker) May 30, 2012:
The solidarity contribution is a tax, isn't it? I've just read a little about it.

This is the sort of thing I see only on people's tax forms, where there's no surrounding text to explain what it means.

Can I suggest, as an alternative, ' SPECIAL BENEVOLENT CONTRIBUTIONS'???

The text talks of ' εισφορά '. My understanding is that levy=tax. And, although the Google search, apparently, suggests 'SOLITARITY LEVY' I wonder if that is 'talk' by Union people and wonder, however, if the Inland Revenue, on a tax form would refer to this in Union Colloquialism!!!???? There are many BENEVOLENT FUNDS, which, the I.R. treat 'sympathetically' on their taxable affairs.
Peer comment(s):

neutral rokotas : you are right about "contributions" as a better translation of "εισφορά", although actually it is a tax with another name. As for "benevolent", it suggests voluntariness, while this is compulsory.

True, but is it compulsory? or a 'give what you can' affair and then whoever collects presents a TOTAL collected figure to the I.Revenue for taxation? Only Dylan can sort this one out by looking at the rest of the text.
