Italian term

in appannaggio di

Italian to English Other Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting
My dictionary says appannaggio is prerogative, but I've no idea what they're trying to say here. Thanks for any help!
Conviene rintanarsi nella cittadella turrita delle aste intese come forma d’investimento per disincentivare i moti inflattivi. Sulla scia di un 2011 in appannaggio dell’arte contemporanea a dispetto di quella moderna ed impressionista (81,9% rispetto all’82,8%).

Discussion

Tom in London Apr 16, 2012:
My quick stab at it The most convenient thing is to take refuge in the auction rooms as the place of investments that discourage inflationary movements, and as in 2011 that favour contemporary art rather than the Impressionistists and the Moderns (81.9% compared with 82. 8%).

something like the translation I suggested but my suggestion needs a lot more work in relation to the overall tone and the wider context. That would be *your* job. :)

beholden to /espousing

Nel senso lato, naturalmente! :)

1. "... following the 2011 trend beholden to the contemporary art at the expense of ... etc"
Oppure:
2. "as a continuation of the 2011 trend espousing the contemporary rather than modern/impressionist art ... etc..."
