From a psychology thesis paper detailing sampling procedure of a study:

Die Effektgrößenbestimmung setzt voraus, dass man eine Vorstellung darüber hat, wie stark sich zwei Populationen A und B angesichts der Merkmalsstreuung mindestens unterscheiden müssen. In diesem Fall wurde die Effektgröße expost, nach Abschluss der Untersuchung bestimmt.

I would leave it out because it's a tautology - it goes on to say "nach Abschluss der Untersuchung".

Soweit ich mich erinnere, wird "ex post" ganz entsprechend zu "ex post facto" gebraucht , wenn es sich um Argumentationen handelt.
